Whenever I travel, I always pack a macro lens, flash and diffuser. Even between safaris, I'll spend time around camp looking for what else is living nearby. Wasps, moths, spiders, beetles, I'll have a go at photographing almost anything I find.

Macro photography can be surprisingly challenging. It requires patience, steady hands and, perhaps most importantly, an understanding of the creature in front of you. The more you learn about your subject, the better chance you have of anticipating its behaviour and getting the photograph you're after.
